Senior Associate - Strategic Finance

Bird is a last-mile electric vehicle sharing company dedicated to bringing safe, low-cost, environmentally-friendly transportation solutions to communities across the world. We provide a fleet of electric, shared scooters that can be accessed via smartphone. Bird is headquartered in Venice, California and is rapidly expanding across the country and the world.
What You'll Do
Financial planning and analysis: you will be the primary point of contact for all things finance related for the cities and territories within your coverage (including monthly reporting, modeling and forecasting lead, goals setting and the right operating cadence to make it all happen)
Lead annual, semi-annual and rolling forecast planning by city and product line; be a budget guardian
Track financial performance of business on weekly and monthly basis by P&L Line item. Own the P&L and keep stakeholders updated on actual performance against budget - Ownership of the FP&A month end close process
Keep the global finance team up to date on market dynamics and Bird's business in the region
Develop useful financial controls and reports in order to provide quick and reliable data to our stakeholders
Continually improve and automate our methods for parsing data and incorporating it into real-time models, analysis, and actions.
Make management reporting more actionable and real time. Actionable requires better data, calculations or visualizations/presentations. Real time requires developing scalable processes that help deliver more frequently
Create best practices of marrying financial and operational data. Data sources include Excel and Google spreadsheets, SQL, internal forecasting and planning tools
Create dashboards and visualizations of complex data sets and calculations
Investments: provide financial insights to business leaders and work with them to drive efficiency and ROI on investments
Apply business judgement and financial insights to assist and advise on decision making
Connect the strategy themes across the region to understand potential risk and opportunities to the region's P&L.
Develop core relationships to build trust around our local business partners
Expect partnering with finance related stakeholders such as accounting, tax, finops to guarantee correct allocations and other inputs to ensure finance best practices spread through the organization
Process improvement: help us scale / transition from startup to enterprise
Lead improvements in our planning processes such as developing new internal processes and maturing existing ones.
Special Projects and Innovation: we will push the boundaries of this role. Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new (technical) skills
New initiatives, products, risks and opportunities are constantly arising. You will help to financially evaluate and drive these important initiatives beyond traditional FP&A on a variety of projects
Compliance - Ensure and support developing the culture around compliance towards various financial policies and overall financial discipline
What You'll Need
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or other quantitative field
Master's Degree / MBA highly preferable
Minimum of 6 years in Corporate Finance / Operational FP&A, Corporate Development / Investment Banking and/or Consulting, at either a high-growth company or a large, well-established organization, but we may consider other candidates if they meet the rest of the requirements
Elite Excel skills: you must be an expert in excel. Best-practices are second-nature, your models are efficient, scalable and intuitive
Accounting: strong working knowledge of accounting and GAAP
Systems: working knowledge of enterprise-level financial planning systems
Attention to detail: consistent with swift execution. We need to do things quickly and we need to do them well. Striking that balance can be challenging and this should be a strength of yours
Excellent communication and people skills: numbers are key, but a business is built with people and you will manage several different stakeholders in finance the strategy and planning function, and beyond
Analytical mindset: you get excited about deciphering huge data sets and cutting through irrelevant distractions to get to the heart of core data questions
Humble & resourceful: you're willing to take on lower-level projects when it will clear roadblocks
Self-starter and hands-on: You will take initiative, be proactive, set and follow through on goals and commit to your work

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
